IHG Brings Vignette Collection to Malaysia with Mangala Estate Kuantan
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Mangala Estate Kuantan, a 67-villa retreat, marking the Vignette Collection’s entry into Malaysia. The agreement is in partnership with the FRANKY Group of Companies. The property will join IHG’s system in mid-2026 under its original name and will be rebranded as Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection, in 2027 following refurbishment.
The Vignette Collection is IHG’s first collection brand, designed to enable hotels to retain their character while benefiting from IHG’s global platform. Mangala Estate Kuantan aligns with this approach, maintaining the property’s sense of place and connecting it with international travellers.
The resort will feature 67 villas, each named to reflect its individual character. Set within a nature-rich estate of palm plantations and greenery, the property provides a habitat for over 100 bird species. Its design and sustainability approach follow the Vignette Collection brand’s “Means for Good” ethos, promoting stays that engage with and preserve the surrounding environment.
Bryan Chan, Vice President, Development, South East Asia & Korea, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are introducing Vignette Collection to Malaysia with Mangala Estate Kuantan. This property expands our presence in Pahang and offers travellers a retreat set in a location known for its natural environment and coastal scenery.”
Dato’ Franky Chua, Managing Director and Founder of the Franky Group of Companies, added: “We are pleased to partner with IHG to bring Mangala Estate Resort Kuantan to the Vignette Collection. Our vision has been to create an eco-conscious retreat that blends with its environment and community, and this partnership helps share that vision with a wider audience.”
Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, is a coastal destination popular with domestic travellers seeking nature and outdoor activities. In 2024, it received 2.28 million visitors. Mangala Estate Kuantan aims to meet the growing travel demand in the region while offering guests a variety of experiences.
The resort’s accommodations include single villas with private pools, lake-view villas, and two-bedroom villas with private pools. Dining options will include an all-day restaurant and a poolside bar offering farm-to-table dishes and locally inspired menus, as well as personalised dining experiences.
Guests can also access a spa, wellness facilities, and two lakes for kayaking and water activities. The resort offers versatile meeting spaces for up to 400 people, suitable for corporate events, team-building, and private celebrations within a natural setting.
Mangala Estate Kuantan will join a growing portfolio of Vignette Collection properties, including an upcoming hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Globally, the brand currently has 27 open hotels and 41 in its pipeline.
The property adds to IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle presence in Malaysia, which includes InterContinental Kuala Lumpur and Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park, along with four pipeline properties, including the Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur set to open later this year.
