Avios-Only Flights Return for October Half-Term Travel
British Airways Adds Reykjavík and Tenerife to Avios-Only Programme
British Airways has announced a new series of Avios-Only flights, offering members of The British Airways Club the opportunity to redeem Avios for travel to Reykjavík and Tenerife during the October 2026 half-term period.
Available exclusively to club members, the dedicated services will go on sale from 3 June. Return fares are available from £5 plus 33,500 Avios in Euro Traveller and from £40 plus 60,000 Avios in Club Europe, with checked baggage included.
The Tenerife service will operate between London Heathrow and the Canary Islands, departing on 24 October 2026 and returning on 31 October 2026. The route offers travellers access to one of Europe’s most popular autumn holiday destinations.
Members seeking a different travel experience can choose the Reykjavík service, departing from London Heathrow on 25 October and returning on 1 November 2026. The Icelandic capital provides access to geothermal attractions, volcanic landscapes and seasonal opportunities to view the Northern Lights.
Introduced in 2023, Avios-Only flights are services where every seat across all cabins is available exclusively through Avios redemption. The initiative was designed to increase the availability of reward seats on selected leisure routes during peak travel periods.
Since launch, British Airways has operated more than 50 Avios-Only services to destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.
Commenting on the announcement, Colm Lacy, Chief Commercial Officer at British Airways, said the latest flights provide additional travel options for members during the October half-term period, whether they prefer a beach holiday or a city break.

Adam Daniels, Chief Executive Officer of IAG Loyalty, said the programme continues to expand opportunities for members to redeem Avios on leisure routes during periods of high demand.
British Airways American Express Credit Card holders can also use Companion Vouchers when booking Avios-Only flights. The vouchers allow members to book a second seat using no additional Avios, subject to applicable taxes and charges, or receive a discount on the Avios required for solo travel.
In addition to flights, members can redeem Avios on British Airways Holidays hotel bookings, either in full or in part, helping to reduce the overall cost of accommodation.
Alongside the dedicated Avios-Only programme, British Airways continues to offer Reward Seats across its wider network. The airline guarantees a minimum allocation of reward seats on flights departing from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports.
Bookings for the new Avios-Only flights can be made through the British Airways website.
