Qatar Airways and BWT Alpine F1 Team Partner with Carmen Jorda to Promote Women in Motorsport and Aviation
Qatar Airways, the Official Airline Partner of Formula 1, has renewed its partnership with the BWT Alpine Formula One Team. This renewal emphasizes the airline’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Carmen Jorda has joined the collaboration as the Head of the Alpine F1 Academy and Qatar Airways Ambassador. She will support initiatives to promote female participation in motorsport while bridging the gap between aviation and Formula 1.
A former development driver for Lotus and Renault in Formula 1, Jorda became the 11th woman to join an F1® team’s driver lineup. She has a background in GP3, Indy Lights, and the Le Mans Series. Her role with Alpine supports her ongoing efforts to create more pathways for women in motorsport, which aligns with Qatar Airways’ commitment to opportunity and representation.
Under the renewed partnership, Jorda will represent Qatar Airways at key Grand Prix events, lead female-driver mentorship activities within the F1 Academy, and participate in community programmes and media engagements designed to highlight the airline’s focus on empowerment and development.
The extended agreement with BWT Alpine Formula One Team builds on the partnership introduced in 2023. Through joint fan activations, branded experiences, and global visibility across Formula 1 destinations, the collaboration continues to engage audiences worldwide.
Luke Drake, Qatar Airways Senior Vice President, Sponsorship, Events & Exhibitions, said: “We are pleased to continue our partnership with the BWT Alpine Formula One Team and support Carmen Jorda’s role. This collaboration reflects our shared aim of promoting opportunities for women and encouraging future talent in both aviation and motorsport.”
Guy Martin, Global Marketing Director of BWT Alpine Formula One Team, said: “The renewal of our partnership with Qatar Airways aligns with our shared focus on inclusion and development. Welcoming Carmen and expanding our F1 Academy involvement supports our joint goals.”

Carmen Jorda added: “I am pleased to lead mentorship initiatives within the F1 Academy. I look forward to working with Qatar Airways, participating in racing-related events, and engaging in outreach programmes that support opportunities for women.”
To mark the partnership, Jorda met with Qatar Airways Senior First Officer Shaikah Al Moudadi, sharing perspectives from both aviation and motorsport. The exchange included visits to the Qatar Airways Flight Deck Training Academy in Doha and Alpine’s F1 Garage, highlighting the values of precision, performance, and teamwork that connect both industries.
This partnership is part of Qatar Airways’ broader sports sponsorship portfolio, which includes collaborations in football, tennis, cricket, rugby, basketball, motor racing, and other global sports.
