Holiday Inn Express Partners with Costa Coffee to Bring Freshly Brewed Coffee to Hotels Nationwide
Holiday Inn Express by IHG Hotels & Resorts and The Coca-Cola Company’s Costa Coffee have announced a new partnership that will bring Costa’s freshly ground and brewed coffee to all Holiday Inn Express hotels across the United States.
To mark the launch, Holiday Inn Express and Costa Coffee will offer free coffee to college football fans on Saturday, Aug. 30, during Week 1 of the season. Fans can visit participating hotels within 10 miles of Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools to receive a complimentary cup, no hotel reservation required.
A recent national survey of 2,000 college football fans, commissioned by Holiday Inn Express and conducted by Talker Research, highlighted coffee’s role on game day:
More than half include breakfast or coffee in their pre-game rituals when travelling
81% say coffee or caffeine is part of their morning routine on game day
70% of coffee drinkers have at least two cups while travelling to the game
“For years, Holiday Inn Express has provided guests with complimentary breakfast at thousands of locations worldwide. With Costa Coffee now part of the experience, we are continuing to support guests and fans as they start their day,” said Justin Alexander, VP of Global Brand Management for Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites & Candlewood Suites.
Survey results also showed that many fans stay overnight during game day weekends, with hotel choice influenced by proximity to the stadium (48%), complimentary breakfast (46%), and coffee quality (43%). With Costa Coffee now available at more than 1,300 Holiday Inn Express locations, the collaboration addresses these guest priorities.
Findings from a separate survey by Suzy, commissioned by Costa Coffee, showed that nearly half of respondents believe freshly brewed, freshly ground coffee tastes better than traditional drip coffee, and 61% agreed that the quality of hotel coffee reflects how much a hotel values its guests.

“For many travellers, coffee sets the tone for the day. Partnering with Holiday Inn Express allows us to bring Costa Coffee to hotels across the U.S., creating more opportunities for guests to enjoy a reliable coffee experience,” said Amy Daugherty, Costa Coffee U.S. Head of Marketing.
The free coffee promotion on Aug. 30 is the first in a series of game day activations from Holiday Inn Express and Costa Coffee.
Disclaimer: Coffee is complimentary for all Holiday Inn Express guests as part of their stay. On Aug. 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. local time, non-guests may also receive coffee at participating locations while supplies last. Costa Coffee is also available at avid hotels, Atwell Suites, Garner Hotels, and Candlewood Suites across the U.S.
