New Chairman Appointed at Tourism Malaysia

APPOINTMENT

Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) has announced the appointment of Datuk Manoharan Periasamy as the new Chairman.

He succeeds Datuk Dr. Yasmin Mahmood and will lead the board’s strategic direction, with a key focus on coordinating promotional efforts for the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

Datuk Manoharan brings more than three decades of experience in public service and the tourism sector. He most recently served as Director-General of Tourism Malaysia and previously held senior positions across international promotion, advertising, digital strategy, package development, and corporate communications.

He also led Malaysia’s tourism promotion inititaives in South Asia from 2000 to 2016.

Commenting on his appointment as Chairman, Datuk Manoharan said he was honoured by the trust placed in him and expressed his commitment to working closely with Tourism Malaysia’s leadership and staff to strengthen the country’s global tourism positioning and ensure the success of VM2026.
