Hyatt Centric opens first hotel in Puerto Rico with San Juan Isla Verde launch
Hyatt Hotels Corporation, in collaboration with Interlink and Vivo Beach Club, has announced the opening of Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde, marking the debut of the Hyatt Centric brand in Puerto Rico.
Located in the Isla Verde neighbourhood, the hotel is within walking distance of Isla Verde Beach and close to dining, nightlife, and retail areas. It is approximately five minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, with convenient access to Old San Juan, El Yunque National Rainforest, San Juan’s Financial District, and the Puerto Rico Convention District.
The hotel has undergone a US$30 million renovation of the former Verdanza Hotel and now features 223 guest rooms and suites with city and partial ocean views. The interiors reflect Puerto Rico’s landscapes, incorporating design elements inspired by the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, coral reefs, and mountains. The renovation involved design and architecture firms V Architecture, 3MG, Baskerville, and landscape architect EDSA.
Guests receive complimentary access and shuttle service to Vivo Beach Club, a private oceanfront venue featuring multiple pools, dining outlets, Ocean Lab Brewing Co., and an outdoor concert stage with a capacity of 3,500 people.
Federico J. Sánchez Ortiz, President and CEO of Interlink, along with Luis and Matías Fernández, owners of Vivo Beach Club and co-owners of the hotel, said the project reflects collaboration with local expertise and aims to contribute to tourism and economic activity in Isla Verde and the wider region.

Hotel amenities include a pool deck with a jacuzzi, an open-air restaurant and bar, a 24-hour fitness centre, a splash pad for children, and pet-friendly facilities.

Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde offers two food and beverage venues:
Alba, serving Puerto Rican-inspired cuisine throughout the day
Espresso Lab, offering coffee and local selections
The culinary program is led by Puerto Rican chef Efraín Cruz, who oversees dining outlets, events, and banquets.

The property includes more than 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a rooftop terrace with ocean views, catering to corporate meetings, social events, and celebrations.
This opening marks the sixth Hyatt-branded hotel in Puerto Rico, joining Hyatt Place San Juan, Hyatt House San Juan, Hyatt Place Bayamón, Hyatt Place Manatí, and Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico. Highgate Hotels manages the hotel.

To mark the opening, World of Hyatt members can earn 500 bonus points for qualifying stays at the hotel through March 31, 2026, under the programme’s new hotel member offer. Terms and conditions apply.
