Sydney Airport Backs Digital Arrival Card
Digital Arrival Card to Streamline Entry into Australia
Sydney Airport has welcomed the Australian Government’s decision to introduce a digital declaration card, a move aimed at making international arrivals quicker and more convenient while maintaining border security.
The initiative is expected to simplify the arrival process for international travellers and support more efficient passenger processing at Australia’s busiest international gateway.
Improving the Arrival Experience

Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer Scott Charlton said the introduction of a digital declaration card is a practical step towards modernising Australia’s border procedures.
He noted that Sydney Airport is the first point of entry for many international visitors, and the digital system will help create a smoother arrival experience while supporting tourism, economic activity and future passenger growth.
Supporting Border Modernization
Sydney Airport handles more than 17 million international passengers each year, making efficient border processing an important part of the travel experience.
The airport has worked with the Australian Government and the Australian Border Force on initiatives, including the rollout of SmartGates and biometric processing technology to improve passenger movement through the airport.
Preparing for Future Growth
Sydney Airport said it will continue working with the Australian Government, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Australian Border Force and industry partners to support the nationwide introduction of the digital declaration card and other border modernisation initiatives.
The new system is expected to improve efficiency while supporting Australia’s tourism industry and international connectivity.
