Etihad Introduces Complimentary Medical Travel Insurance for Abu Dhabi Visitors
Etihad Travel Insurance Programme Supports International Arrivals to Abu Dhabi
Etihad Airways has partnered with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) to offer complimentary medical travel insurance to international visitors arriving in Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated flights.
The initiative, delivered in partnership with The National Insurance Company – Daman, aims to enhance the visitor experience by providing medical coverage for eligible travel bookings.
The programme will be available from July to December 2026 and provides eligible travellers with medical cover for up to 15 days within the UAE. The insurance is automatically included with qualifying Etihad tickets, eliminating the need for a separate application process.
The cover applies to travellers flying to Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated services where both the point of origin and point of sale are outside the UAE. Visitors using Etihad’s Stopover Programme are also eligible for coverage during their stay in Abu Dhabi, subject to terms and conditions.
The initiative reflects a joint effort by Etihad and DCT Abu Dhabi to support tourism growth and simplify travel planning for international visitors.

Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said growing international interest in Abu Dhabi continues to support the emirate’s tourism sector. He noted that the partnership is designed to provide a seamless visitor experience from the booking stage through to arrival and stay.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said the inclusion of medical insurance allows travellers to focus on their visit while providing additional reassurance throughout their journey.

Khaled Ateeq Aldhaheri, Chief Executive Officer of The National Insurance Company – Daman, said the initiative integrates medical insurance into the travel experience while providing visitors access to Daman’s healthcare network across the UAE.
The partnership highlights a shared focus on visitor wellbeing and convenience, with medical coverage incorporated directly into the travel journey for eligible passengers.
Abu Dhabi continues to attract travellers with a mix of cultural, leisure and entertainment attractions, including Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island and Yas Island. The addition of complimentary medical insurance is intended to further support visitor confidence and enhance the overall travel experience.
