Cargolux Deploys Electronic Flight Folder Across Flight Operations
Cargolux Flight Operations Advance with Digital Flight Management Solution
Cargolux has partnered with Cathay Technologies to introduce the Electronic Flight Folder (EFF) across its flight operations, supporting the airline’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
The agreement was signed at Cargolux’s headquarters in Luxembourg in the presence of Captain James Toye, Head of Line Operations at Cathay and Chief Product Owner at Cathay Technologies, and Claude Konsbrück, Vice-President Flight Operations at Cargolux.
As airlines continue to adopt digital technologies and manage increasingly complex operational requirements, integrated flight management tools are becoming an important part of modern airline operations. The collaboration aims to provide flight crews with streamlined access to critical operational information while supporting efficiency and communication.
The Electronic Flight Folder is designed to centralise essential flight data, including flight plans, fuel information and load sheets, within a single digital platform. By consolidating operational information into a single system, the solution simplifies workflows and supports informed decision-making by flight crews.
A key feature of the platform is Ops Chat, an integrated communication tool that enables real-time coordination between flight crews and ground operations teams. The functionality is intended to improve information sharing and operational responsiveness throughout a flight’s lifecycle.
Claude Konsbrück, Vice-President Flight Operations at Cargolux, said the airline sought a solution that would support innovation while enabling safe, efficient and fully paperless flight operations.
He noted that the Electronic Flight Folder aligns with Cargolux’s focus on operational efficiency, sustainability and safety.
Navin Chellaram, Chief Executive Officer of Cathay Technologies, said the platform was developed using operational expertise gained from airline operations and designed to support pilots through simplified workflows and improved connectivity.
He added that the partnership combines Cargolux’s cargo aviation experience with Cathay Technologies’ digital capabilities to support the future development of flight operations.
Supporting Digital Transformation in Cargo Aviation
The implementation of the Electronic Flight Folder represents another step in the aviation sector’s transition towards digital operations. By replacing paper-based processes with integrated digital tools, airlines can improve information accessibility, reduce administrative workload and support more efficient operational planning.
For cargo carriers such as Cargolux, digital flight management systems also help strengthen communication between operational teams while enhancing day-to-day flight execution.
The partnership between Cargolux and Cathay Technologies highlights the growing importance of digital solutions in supporting safe, efficient and connected airline operations.
