APPOINTMENT

Minor Hotels has announced the appointment of Christoph Dueker as Cluster General Manager for Anantara Kalutara Resort and Avani Kalutara Resort.
With over two decades of international hospitality experience, Dueker has worked with several renowned luxury and lifestyle hotel brands across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He began his career with Four Seasons and later held senior management positions with Park Hyatt, Shangri-La, and Marina Bay Sands, among others.

In his new role, Dueker will oversee the overall operations, performance, and strategic direction of both Anantara and Avani Kalutara Resorts. He will focus on strengthening each property’s individual identity while enhancing their connection to the destination.
Commenting on his appointment, Christoph said, “I’m truly excited to be in Sri Lanka and to work with the talented teams at Anantara and Avani Kalutara. Both resorts have distinctive personalities: one a peaceful Sir Geoffrey Bawa – inspired luxury sanctuary, the other a vibrant lifestyle beach escape. My focus will be on strengthening their individual character while deepening their connection to this beautiful destination.”

Nicholas Smith, Vice President Operations – Asia, at Minor Hotels, added that Dueker’s extensive global experience and focus on thoughtful innovation will support the group’s ongoing efforts to enhance the positioning of its Sri Lankan resorts. Smith noted that with a continued emphasis on destination awareness and sustainability, Dueker is well-placed to lead the next phase of growth for the Kalutara properties.
Located between the Indian Ocean and the Kalu River, Anantara Kalutara Resort blends contemporary luxury with Sri Lanka’s coastal charm and Geoffrey Bawa’s architectural influence. Adjacent to it, Avani Kalutara Resort offers a relaxed island ambiance for families and leisure travellers. Together, the two properties create a distinctive dual experience under Minor Hotels’ portfolio, combining Anantara’s elegance with Avani’s vibrant style.
