Taj Wellington Mews Chennai Achieves EDGE Zero Carbon Certification
Taj Wellington Mews Chennai, South Asia’s first luxury service residence managed by women, has been awarded the EDGE Zero Carbon Certification, a global recognition for sustainable buildings. It is also the first hotel in South Asia to receive this certification under the EDGE (IFC – The World Bank) framework.
This certification reflects the hotel’s ongoing commitment to sustainable operations in line with IHCL’s ESG+ framework, Paathya. The property achieved an EDGE Advanced rating by attaining more than 40% energy savings and over 20% savings in both water and materials, while also demonstrating net-zero on-site carbon emissions.
Speaking on this milestone, Mandeep Kaur, General Manager, Taj Wellington Mews, Chennai, said, “We are immensely proud to achieve the EDGE Zero Carbon Certification, a recognition that underscores our commitment to sustainable luxury and responsible hospitality. It inspires us to further our commitment to the planet while delivering the timeless warmth and care that defines quintessential Tajness.”

EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) is a global green building certification system developed by IFC and issued by Sintali. It is aligned with international sustainable investment standards. This recognition strengthens IHCL’s role in advancing green initiatives across the hospitality sector.
