Kansai Airports Achieves Strong Financial Growth in Fiscal Year 2025
Kansai Airports has announced its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2026, reporting higher revenue and profit supported by growing international passenger traffic and the impact of the World Expo.
The airport operator recorded:
- Operating revenue of 271.3 billion yen
- Operating profit of 69.6 billion yen
- Ordinary profit of 58.9 billion yen
- Net profit of 40.2 billion yen
According to the company, operating revenue increased by 11 percent compared to the previous fiscal year, while operating profit rose by 8 percent.
International Passenger Growth Supports Performance
Kansai Airports said increased demand for international travel played a major role in the improved results.
Despite capacity constraints on some China routes and the impact of travel-related restrictions, international passenger traffic reached record levels during the fiscal year.
Growth was largely driven by inbound travel demand and strong passenger volumes during the first half of the year.
The World Expo also contributed to increased travel activity across the airport network.
Passenger Traffic Reaches 54 Million
Across its three airports, Kansai Airports handled 54.01 million passengers during fiscal year 2025, representing a 6 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Aircraft movements also increased, with total arrivals and departures reaching 381,420, up 3 percent year-on-year.
The company reported that international passenger numbers achieved a new fiscal-year record since the opening of Kansai International Airport.
Domestic Travel Remains Stable
Domestic passenger traffic also recorded growth during the fiscal year.
While the number of domestic aircraft movements was slightly lower than the previous year, passenger numbers increased by 2.4 percent.
The results indicate continued demand for domestic air travel across Japan.
Kobe Airport Records Best-Ever Year
Kobe Airport achieved a record fiscal-year performance after launching international charter services.
The airport handled 4.17 million passengers during the year, setting a new annual record.
The introduction of international charter flights contributed to stronger passenger growth and expanded connectivity.
Balance Sheet Reflects Infrastructure Investments
As of 31 March 2026, Kansai Airports reported total assets of 1.57 trillion yen.
Total liabilities declined to 1.46 trillion yen, primarily due to payments related to airport operating rights and reductions in liabilities associated with public facility operation rights.
The company noted that depreciation linked to operating rights also affected asset values during the fiscal year.
Outlook Supported by International Demand
The FY2025 results highlight the continued recovery and growth of Japan’s aviation sector, particularly in international travel.
Strong inbound demand, World Expo-related travel and expanding international services helped drive record passenger volumes and improved financial performance across the Kansai Airports network.
