Ruby Frida Opens in Stockholm as Brand Enters Sweden

Ruby Frida Brings Design-Led Hospitality to Stockholm
Ruby Hotels has opened Ruby Frida in Stockholm, marking the brand’s first property in Sweden and its entry into the Scandinavian market.
Located in the Kungsholmen district near Fridhemsplan, the 187-room hotel occupies a redeveloped 1960s building that now combines hospitality, office, retail and dining spaces. The property is located about 10 minutes from Stockholm Central Station by public transport and about 40 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Guests staying at Ruby Frida have convenient access to key attractions, including Gamla Stan, the city’s waterfront areas, parks, cafés and cultural venues.
The hotel’s design takes inspiration from Stockholm’s music and cultural scene during the 1960s, a period that saw significant changes in the city’s creative and architectural landscape. Interiors combine Scandinavian design elements with references to the city’s musical heritage through materials, artwork, lighting and curated details.

Commenting on the opening, Michael Struck, CEO and Founder of Ruby Group, said the hotel has been designed to reflect Stockholm’s creative identity while providing a social and welcoming environment for both visitors and local residents.

Lauren Krostue, Vice President, Global Brand Management at Ruby, said the property draws inspiration from the city’s cultural and musical history while maintaining the brand’s design approach and guest experience standards.
Accommodation and Facilities
Ruby Frida offers guestrooms across several categories, including Cosy, Lovely and Wow. Rooms are designed around functionality and comfort, with selected categories featuring private balconies overlooking the city.
Each room includes signature Ruby features such as large beds, rainfall showers, bath amenities, Bluetooth speakers and interiors inspired by Stockholm’s creative culture.
Social Spaces and Dining
At the centre of the hotel is a 24-hour bar and lounge serving cocktails, coffee and light refreshments. Designed as a social hub, the space encourages interaction between guests and local visitors throughout the day and evening.
Music plays an important role throughout the guest experience, with curated playlists, live performances and in-room audio features integrated into the property.
Design Inspired by Stockholm’s Music Heritage
The concept behind Ruby Frida references Stockholm’s music scene and the cultural transformation of the 1960s. The area surrounding the hotel has historic ties to the city’s recording industry, including the former Cheiron Studios, known for its role in Swedish music production.
Throughout the hotel, Scandinavian modernism is combined with vintage-inspired details, warm materials and contemporary design elements, creating interiors that reflect both the city’s past and present.
Ruby Frida joins the group’s growing portfolio as the group continues its expansion across European gateway cities.
