Qatar Airways Launches QVerse Island as a Digital Destination in Fortnite

Qatar Airways has launched its first digital destination, QVerse Island, within Fortnite, introducing a new interactive way for users to engage with the airline and explore Qatar’s capital, Doha, through a gaming environment.

QVerse Island presents a virtual interpretation of Doha, allowing players to experience the city while interacting with Qatar Airways’ digital brand universe. The experience begins at Hamad International Airport, where players are introduced to Sama, the airline’s digital cabin crew avatar, who acts as an in-world guide throughout the game.

Players can explore various locations on the island, including The ORCHARD, and take part in mission-based challenges set across representations of Doha’s landmarks and attractions. Hidden areas across the island allow players to collect “golden tickets,” which provide opportunities to unlock travel-related rewards, including flights.

Sama plays a central role in QVerse Island, continuing her presence across Qatar Airways’ digital platforms. As the guide within Fortnite, she connects the airline’s wider digital ecosystem, which includes the QVerse web experience, brand storytelling initiatives, and interactive activations, into a single, cohesive virtual environment.

With travel inspiration increasingly influenced by digital platforms such as social media and gaming, Qatar Airways is extending its reach into immersive environments to engage potential travellers earlier in the decision-making journey. By introducing Doha within Fortnite, the airline is linking virtual exploration with real-world travel opportunities.

The launch of QVerse Island aligns with Qatar Airways’ broader focus on digital innovation, including the expansion of Starlink connectivity across its fleet. The airline currently operates more than 120 aircraft equipped with Starlink, enabling passengers on these flights to access high-speed Wi-Fi across a growing network of routes spanning the Americas, Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Together, QVerse Island, Sama, and Starlink form part of Qatar Airways’ approach to creating a connected and digitally driven travel experience that begins well before passengers board their flights.
