PATA Endorses Rainforest Youth Summit 2026 in Sarawak
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has confirmed its endorsement of the Rainforest Youth Summit 2026 (RAYS 2026), organized in collaboration with the Sarawak Tourism Board. The event will take place in Kuching from June 24–26, 2026.
RAYS 2026 is positioned as a platform focused on environmental conservation and sustainable development. The summit will bring together youth representatives, sustainability advocates and emerging leaders from across ASEAN and other regions to discuss climate resilience and practical pathways for inclusive development.

PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid said that the association’s continued endorsement reflects its support for youth engagement in environmental dialogue and action. As an event endorser, PATA will promote the summit through its student chapters and communication channels to broaden participation and awareness.

Dr. Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor, CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board, noted that the partnership with PATA supports ongoing efforts to connect young people with industry and community stakeholders through structured dialogue and collaboration.
The programme will feature panel discussions, workshop sessions and site visits to Sarawak’s protected rainforest areas. Participants will engage with indigenous leaders, researchers and creatives to explore topics including biodiversity protection, climate adaptation and cultural continuity. The 2026 theme, Youth: Many Ways, One Planet, highlights collective responsibility across diverse communities.
The summit will conclude on the opening day of the Rainforest World Music Festival 2026, a cultural event held annually in Sarawak.
RAYS 2026 is funded and organised by the State Government of Sarawak and endorsed by ASEAN, PATA and UN Tourism. Early bird registration is currently open, and financial assistance is available for eligible ASEAN youth through the RAYS ASEAN Access Fund.
