Minor Hotels Enters Croatia and Slovenia with Two Adriatic Resort Signings
Minor Hotels has announced the signing of a management agreement with MK Group for two resort properties on Europe’s Adriatic coast. From 12 February 2026, both hotels will be operated by Minor Hotels and are scheduled to reopen for the 2026 season in late March. Following refurbishment programmes, the properties will relaunch under the Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection brands in the first quarter of 2027.
The signings introduce Minor Hotels to two new countries, marking the group’s first properties in Croatia and Slovenia. The agreements support Minor Hotels’ wider European growth strategy, expanding beyond city locations to strengthen its presence in Mediterranean resort destinations.
Expanding Across the Adriatic Region
Slovenia has built a reputation around sustainable tourism and wellness traditions, while Croatia continues to attract international visitors drawn to its coastline and outdoor lifestyle. Within Croatia, Istria has emerged as a key tourism region, supported by its natural setting, culinary heritage, and accessibility.
Slovenia Debut: Portorož
Minor Hotels’ first property in Slovenia will be located in the resort town of Portorož. The 183-key Hotel Palace Portorož offers beach access and facilities, including three restaurants, three bars, a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and a dedicated MICE area. The resort is designed to cater to both leisure and business travellers, with a focus on wellness and gastronomy rooted in the destination.
Following refurbishment, the property will reopen in early 2027 as Hotel Palace Portorož, Minor Reserve Collection Slovenia.
Croatia Debut: Istrian Peninsula
Located in Savudrija on the Istrian peninsula, Adriatic Istria Resort will mark Minor Hotels’ entry into Croatia. The 186-key resort features three restaurants, four bars, a spa and wellness centre, indoor and outdoor pools, beach access, and a dedicated MICE offering supporting meetings, events, and weddings.
The resort is also adjacent to the 18-hole, par-72 Golf Adriatic PGA National Croatia course, which runs along the coastline. After refurbishment, the property will relaunch in early 2027 as Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort, introducing Anantara’s brand-led experiences focused on regional culture and nature-based activities.
Ownership and Connectivity
Both hotels are owned by MK Group, which operates across tourism, real estate, renewable energy, agriculture, and food production in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro. The properties benefit from access to multiple regional airports, including Trieste Airport in Italy, Portorož Airport in Slovenia, and Pula and Rijeka Airports in Croatia.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, said the expansion reflects increasing tourism activity in Central and Southeastern Europe and demand for differentiated luxury hospitality experiences. Mihailo Jankovic, CEO of MK Group, noted that the introduction of these brands strengthens the region’s position in the international premium tourism segment.
Focus on Luxury Growth in Europe
Minor Hotels continues to expand its luxury portfolio in Europe through brands such as Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection. The latter brings together independent luxury hotels that retain their individual identity while accessing global marketing, sales, and distribution platforms. The Portorož property is positioned as a natural fit for this collection, aligning with the brand’s emphasis on character and sense of place.
