IHCL Marks Four Years of Paathya with Bharat EkSaath Walkathon
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) continues to advance its sustainability and social impact initiatives under its ESG+ framework, Paathya. As the programme completes four years, the company marked the milestone with the Bharat EkSaath Walkathon, a 3 km walk organized across 14 countries and more than 200 locations.
The walkathon brought together employees, their families, partners, vendors and members of the community. Funds raised through the initiative support the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT), contributing to IHCL’s ongoing social impact efforts.
Paathya framework guides sustainability and social initiatives

Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President – Human Resources, IHCL, said the Paathya framework reflects the organisation’s approach to integrating sustainability into its operations and long-term planning. He noted that the framework covers environmental performance, social impact, governance and heritage-related initiatives.

Over time, IHCL has introduced measures such as water recycling, renewable energy use and the installation of bottling plants across its hotels. The company has also partnered on skill development initiatives, with training programmes supporting thousands of individuals through its network of skill centres.
Paathya is structured around six focus areas, including environmental stewardship, social responsibility, governance, heritage conservation, value chain practices and business growth aligned with sustainability.
The framework has also been referenced in academic research, including a case study by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD Business School) in Lausanne, which examined IHCL’s approach to integrating sustainability into its business model.
