Hyatt Place Semarang to Join Integrated Development in Central Java

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with PT PAM and BINA NUSANTARA to develop Hyatt Place Semarang, strengthening the company’s presence in Indonesia and supporting its expansion across Southeast Asia.

The hotel will form part of an integrated mixed-use development in Semarang that includes BINUS SCHOOL Semarang, BINUS University @Semarang, 23 Semarang Mall and other supporting facilities. The project is designed to create a connected environment that brings together education, business, hospitality, lifestyle and community activities.

As part of Hyatt’s Essentials portfolio, Hyatt Place Semarang is expected to provide accommodation for both business and leisure travellers visiting the city.

Commenting on the project, Lawrence Wibisono, President Director of PT PAM, said the development reflects BINA NUSANTARA’s efforts to expand its contributions beyond education, support community growth, and create new opportunities for collaboration within Semarang.

The hotel is planned as a seven-storey property featuring 154 guestrooms. Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant, ballroom, meeting rooms, fitness centre, swimming pool and a rooftop bar overlooking the Java Sea.

Sarah Leow, Head of Growth and Owner Relations, North East Asia and South East Asia, Hyatt, said the hotel is expected to support Semarang’s growing role as a destination for business, education and tourism while providing accommodation suited to a range of traveller needs.

The architectural design draws inspiration from organic forms and Semarang’s coastal identity. Planned features include landscaped open spaces and an inner courtyard designed to maximise natural light throughout the building.

Francis Budiraharja Santoso, Commissioner of PT PAM, said the project forms part of BINA NUSANTARA’s long-term vision to develop an integrated ecosystem in Semarang, bringing together education, talent development, hospitality and community engagement within a single destination.

Once completed, Hyatt Place Semarang will add to Hyatt’s growing portfolio in Indonesia while contributing to the continued development of Semarang’s hospitality sector.
