Emirates ‘Force for Good’ Program Takes Australian Children to the Australian Open

Emirates and the Australian Tennis Foundation (ATF) marked a key milestone in the first year of the Force for Good program by bringing 25 children and young people from across Australia to Melbourne for an Australian Open experience. Each participant attended the trip with a guardian or friend, giving them the opportunity to watch the tournament and participate in activities related to the event.

The Emirates Force for Good program is backed by a $2.25 million, five-year commitment from the airline, aimed at supporting disadvantaged children through tennis and helping create pathways for confidence-building, connection, and wellbeing.

Program Impact Across Five Australian Cities

During its 2025 pilot year, the initiative reached communities across the five Australian cities served by Emirates: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.

In partnership with 53 local community organisations, the program delivered 44 programs and events, introducing more than 2,000 children to tennis. Emirates and ATF also reported that the program generated over 10,500 participation hours and more than 7,600 play opportunities, supporting both skill development and social engagement. To extend access beyond organised sessions, the program donated over 715 racquets, nets, and balls to children and community groups.

Australian Open Experience and Player Engagement

The program’s year-end event included time at the Australian Open, where participants met Australian tennis figures Casey Dellacqua and Pat Cash at the AO Ballpark presented by Emirates.

Dean Cleaver, Emirates Regional Sales Manager, said: “Today is a celebration of the impact this program continues to have on children’s lives. We’re not just introducing them to a sport. We are providing a pathway to build confidence, improve their physical health, and support their mental well-being. The 25 participants here today were chosen for their dedication and positive attitudes. Flying them to Melbourne reflects what our Force for Good initiative is about — connecting communities and creating opportunities.”

According to program feedback, 85% of participants reported feeling more positive about themselves and their future, and 76% reported feeling more confident to try new things.

Vicki Reid, Executive Director of the Australian Tennis Foundation, said: “The program is designed to help participants build confidence to try something new, find a place to belong, and experience the joy tennis can bring. To see these kids, who started this journey on their local community courts, now attending a Grand Slam shows the impact of creating opportunity.”

Casey Dellacqua added: “Looking at these kids, I see the same spark I had when I first picked up a racquet. To be part of their journey has been an honour. For many, this experience will be a defining moment.”

Program Continues in 2026

The Force for Good program forms part of Emirates’ broader involvement in Australian sport, including its role as the Official Airline of the Australian Open. Emirates confirmed the initiative will continue in 2026, with further tennis programs and community events planned across Australia as part of the five-year commitment.
