Delta Launches First-Ever Route Race to Decide Summer 2026 Mediterranean Destination
Delta invites customers and employees to shape its network through the airline’s first Route Race, allowing SkyMiles Members and employees to vote on which European destination will be added to the map in Summer 2026.
The airline flies to over 300 destinations worldwide and expanded its transatlantic schedule this summer with new service to Catania, Italy. Now, travellers can influence where it flies next in the Mediterranean.
“SkyMiles Members and Delta people are at the centre of what we do,” said Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning.
“The Route Race gives them a voice in selecting a new destination, connecting them more directly to our global network.”
How it works
Voting runs Aug. 25–29 through the Delta app
Members can access the voting page under the Explore and Trip sections after confirming their SkyMiles credentials
Each vote counts toward determining the winning destination, which will be announced about 30 days after voting closes

Destinations in the running
Sardinia, Italy: Coastal landscapes, hiking trails, and local cuisine with a slower pace of life
Malta: Historic sites, UNESCO-listed streets, and Mediterranean bays
Ibiza, Spain: International nightlife scene balanced with quieter coves and beach escapes
The Route Race highlights the airline’s effort to engage both customers and employees in shaping its network decisions.
