Exploring Czechia Regions Beyond Prague for Indian Travellers

Indian travellers are returning to Europe with a growing preference for experience-led journeys rather than simply visiting well-known landmarks. In response to this shift, CzechTourism is encouraging travellers to explore Czechia beyond its capital, offering a broader and more varied travel experience.

Prague continues to serve as a starting point, recognised for its historic architecture and cultural offerings. Increasingly, however, attention is turning to regions outside the capital that are accessible within short distances and offer distinct local experiences. These regions are now actively included in Indian itineraries, supporting more immersive, varied journeys.

This trend is also reflected in visitor numbers. In 2025, Czechia recorded over 90,000 arrivals from India, a 12.38 per cent increase from the previous year. While Prague remains the primary draw, other regions are gradually gaining interest as travellers seek experiences beyond traditional city visits. The shift was also highlighted during the Czechia Travel Trade Day 2026, held in Prague from 20 to 21 April 2026, where a wider range of regional experiences was presented to travel partners.

Among the regions gaining attention is the Pilsen Region, known as the birthplace of the Pilsner beer style. Beyond brewing traditions, the region offers a broader cultural experience. Visitors can explore the Pilsner Urquell Brewery and the historic Prádlo Distillery, which reflects long-standing production practices. The experience is complemented by visits to Bohemia Sekt, local cuisine, and heritage sites across the region.

In contrast, the Liberec Region presents a landscape shaped by nature, design and craftsmanship. The Ještěd Tower stands as a defining feature of the area, set against mountain views. The region is also known for its creative spaces, such as Pačinek Glass, where visitors can engage with traditional glassmaking techniques through hands-on experiences. Surrounding areas, such as the Bohemian Paradise, add a natural dimension, with rock formations and walking trails that support outdoor exploration.

Commenting on this shift, Barbara Andelová said that Indian travellers are increasingly interested in regional experiences and local culture, prompting efforts to introduce a wider range of destinations across Czechia.

As travel planning for the coming season continues, Czechia offers Indian travellers the opportunity to explore beyond familiar routes and engage with different aspects of the destination.
