Air India Express Flight Returns to Kannur After Engine Warning
Air India Express Flight Makes Precautionary Return to Kannur Airport
An Air India Express flight bound for Jeddah returned to Kannur International Airport on Tuesday after the flight crew detected an engine-related warning approximately two hours after departure.
According to sources, the aircraft departed from Kannur at around 7:40 a.m. with more than 180 passengers on board. While en route to Jeddah, the pilots received an engine warning and decided to return to Kannur as a precaution.
The aircraft landed safely at Kannur International Airport, and all passengers were reported safe.
Sources indicated that before landing, the aircraft remained airborne for a period to reduce fuel load and bring the aircraft within the required landing weight limits. The flight subsequently completed a safe landing without further incident.
Following the aircraft’s return, a technical inspection was carried out. Preliminary findings reportedly identified an issue related to the aircraft’s fuel filter.
The airline and airport authorities are expected to follow standard maintenance and safety procedures before the aircraft returns to service.
The incident highlights the precautionary measures flight crews follow when technical warnings are detected during operations, with passenger safety remaining the primary consideration.
