Souvagya Mohapatra Appointed Chair of FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee

Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director – India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at Atmosphere Core, has been appointed Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee under the National Tourism Committee for a one-year term.

Mohapatra brings over three decades of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. In his current role at Atmosphere Core, he leads the company’s expansion strategy across South Asia while contributing to its broader growth across the Asia-Pacific region. The company operates resort brands across the Maldives, India and the Indian Ocean region, with plans to expand its presence through new developments in India.

Throughout his career, Mohapatra has focused on hotel operations, business expansion, and destination development. At Atmosphere Core, he has also led initiatives aligned with the company’s “Joy of Giving” philosophy, which emphasises service culture, guest experience, and sustainable value creation.

In his role at FICCI, Mohapatra will work with industry, government, and community stakeholders to support tourism development across Eastern India. His focus will include contributing to policy recommendations, promoting investments, supporting capacity-building initiatives, and strengthening collaboration across the sector.

His appointment comes at a time when India’s tourism sector is witnessing growth driven by infrastructure development, increasing domestic travel, and rising international interest. Through this role, he is expected to support efforts aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing tourism infrastructure, and strengthening service standards across the region.

The appointment reflects FICCI’s continued focus on strengthening regional tourism through industry leadership and collaborative development initiatives.
