Emirates Marks World Chocolate Day Onboard
Emirates Showcases Its Onboard Chocolate Experience
Emirates has marked World Chocolate Day by highlighting the chocolate experience it offers across its global network, from onboard treats and handcrafted desserts to premium lounge selections.
The airline said passengers enjoy more than 64 million pieces of chocolate every year, an increase of four million compared with the previous year. In addition, Emirates prepares around 26 million chocolate desserts annually for customers travelling across Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class.
To support its onboard dining programme, Emirates loads around 750,000 kilograms of premium chocolates onto its aircraft each year and uses approximately 260,000 kilograms of chocolate ingredients to prepare desserts across its network.
Rather than relying on a single supplier, the airline works with several international chocolate manufacturers and chocolatiers. Cocoa is sourced from regions in South America and Africa, with suppliers selected for product quality and responsible sourcing practices.
Emirates also adapts its dessert menus to suit different destinations. Mediterranean routes may feature chocolate paired with berries or stone fruits, while flights to Asia include flavours such as tropical fruits, yuzu and matcha. Pistachio remains a popular ingredient on Middle Eastern routes and is featured in several of the airline’s chocolate desserts.
More than 250 pastry and bakery chefs develop over 120 chocolate dessert recipes each year, with menus updated regularly to reflect seasonal ingredients, regional preferences and passenger feedback.
The airline said chocolate consumption onboard has grown by around 5 per cent year on year, with increasing demand for dark chocolate. Salted caramel continues to be one of the most popular flavour combinations across the dessert menu.
The chocolate experience begins before boarding, with First and Business Class lounges offering a selection of chocolate desserts and confectionery from brands including Valrhona, La Rose Noir, Gianni & Gelato, Compartés, Baklava Made Better and French Bakery.
Each cabin offers a different chocolate menu. Economy passengers receive desserts such as Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake, while Premium Economy includes options such as Chocolate and Pistachio Mousse Cake. Business Class features plated desserts alongside chocolates from UAE chocolatier Coco Jalila, while First Class customers are served plated chocolate desserts with a rotating selection of chocolates from Valrhona, Coco Jalila, Canonica and Neuhaus.
The airline continues to refresh its onboard chocolate selection throughout the year, offering different flavours and dessert combinations across its network.
