One Michelin-starred Rooh San Francisco has announced the appointment of Chef Deekshyant Karki as its new Pastry Chef. In his new role, he will lead the restaurant’s pastry kitchen and oversee the development of its dessert offerings.
At Rooh, Chef Karki will curate contemporary desserts designed to complement the restaurant’s progressive Indian cuisine. His culinary approach combines classical European pastry techniques with Indian flavors and presentation styles, focusing on balance, texture, and seasonality.
Chef Karki’s professional background includes experience with The Oberoi Group, where he worked at The Oberoi Amarvilas and The Oberoi Gurgaon. He was also part of a task force assignment at The Oberoi Al Zorah. Earlier in his career, he was associated with Marriott International in Jaipur and Wyndham Grand Agra, following his industrial training at Trident Jaipur.
Internationally, he gained experience with Soho Hospitality in Bangkok before moving into cruise hospitality with Carnival Cruise Line and later with MSC Cruises, where he worked within the Yacht Club division. These roles involved premium pastry production, menu development, and operations in multicultural environments.
In India, he served as Junior Sous Chef at Olive Bar & Kitchen. In the United States, he was Pastry Sous Chef at Andaaz Restaurant & Caterers, contributing to menu planning and catering operations.
