Sandeep Walia Takes on Expanded Global Leadership Role
Marriott International has announced an expansion of responsibilities for Sandeep Walia, who will take on the role of Global Leader for Design Hotels and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Sub-Saharan Africa, in addition to his current position as COO, Middle East and Luxury Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
In his expanded role, Sandeep will oversee the strategic direction of Design Hotels globally, while also leading Marriott International’s operations across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Based in Dubai, Sandeep currently oversees one of Marriott International’s most significant operating regions.
He brings over two decades of hospitality experience, having held several senior leadership roles within Marriott International. Before his current position, he served as COO for the Middle East, overseeing operations across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Lebanon. He has also previously served as Area Vice President for the United Arab Emirates, managing a portfolio of more than 55 hotels across multiple brand segments.
Earlier in his career, he held operational leadership roles with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, where he worked across India and Egypt in food and beverage management positions.
