Emirates A350 Joins Opening Flypast at Dubai Airshow 2025
The Emirates A350 made its first appearance in an aerial formation during the opening flypast of the 2025 Dubai Airshow. The aircraft flew alongside the Emirates Boeing 777 and A380, marking the first time the airline has presented all three aircraft types together in flight since the A350 joined the fleet in November 2024.
The flypast formed part of a 60-aircraft display representing the UAE’s aviation sector, featuring commercial airlines followed by military aircraft and helicopters. The Emirates A380 flew at 500 feet, the Boeing 777 at 700 feet, and the A350 at 900 feet as the formation passed over Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), drawing strong interest from attendees.
An all-Emirati team led the Emirates segment of the showcase. Captain Mubarak Al Mheiri piloted the A380, while Captain Ali Almarzooqi and Captain Rashed Murshed flew the Boeing 777 and A350. Captain Khalid Akram, Deputy Chief Pilot Boeing, was part of the Flight Control Committee overseeing the commercial formation.
The flypast required detailed planning and coordination among multiple stakeholders, including Emirates operational teams, other UAE carriers, the UAE Ministry of Defence, the UAE Military, air traffic controllers, the Dubai Airshow Flying Control Committee, and aviation authorities (DCAA and GCAA). Considerations included air traffic patterns, flight paths, weather conditions, and wind dynamics to ensure a safe and coordinated performance.
