Marriott Expands Partnership with La Tablée des Chefs to Distribute 500,000 Soup Portions by 2025

Marriott International has announced the expansion of its partnership with Canadian nonprofit La Tablée des Chefs as part of its efforts to address food insecurity across Canada. The initiative aims to distribute 500,000 ready-to-cook soup portions to underserved communities by the end of 2025.
This effort builds on Marriott’s existing community outreach under its global sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360, which focuses on responsible business practices and community engagement.

“At Marriott International, we believe in the power of hospitality to make a meaningful difference,” said Paul Cahill, Chief Operations Officer, Canada, Marriott International.
“This expanded initiative reflects our focus on reducing food waste and supporting local communities through active participation by our hotel teams nationwide.”
Strengthening Community Involvement

Since 2023, Marriott Hotels in Canada have worked with La Tablée des Chefs to donate surplus food to local organizations. To date, more than 75 Marriott properties across nine provinces have contributed by donating over 127,000 meals.
The expanded effort through the ready-to-cook soups program will allow Marriott teams to prepare and circulate dry soup packets, which will be distributed through food banks and shelters in their regions. So far, 45,000 packets have been distributed under the program.
Shared Values, Local Impact
Jean-François Archambault, founder and general director of La Tablée des Chefs, commented, “Marriott’s involvement through both food recovery and soup distribution reflects a commitment to supporting families in need. It’s encouraging to collaborate with organizations that share our values and purpose.”
La Tablée des Chefs was established in 2002 with the dual mission to feed and educate. Since then, it has helped redistribute over 21 million portions of surplus food across Canada by working with hotels, venues, and institutions.
Progress Toward Waste Reduction
As of the end of 2024, Marriott International reported a 23% reduction in waste-to-landfill intensity and a 29% reduction in food-waste-to-landfill intensity globally, compared to 2019 levels.
With over 25% of Canadians facing food insecurity, Marriott and La Tablée des Chefs aim to continue addressing this issue through collaborative, scalable solutions that combine local action with national reach.
