Wrexham AFC Unveils 2025/26 Third Kit Honouring 160 Years of Welsh-Patagonian Heritage

Wrexham AFC, in collaboration with Macron and United Airlines, has unveiled its 2025/26 third kit — a design that pays tribute to the Welsh community in Patagonia, coinciding with the 160th anniversary of the first Welsh settlers’ arrival in Argentina.

The kit draws inspiration from the flag of Y Wladfa, the Welsh settlement in Patagonia, celebrating the lasting cultural ties between Wales and the region, which is home to the largest Welsh-speaking community outside of Wales.

To accompany the launch of the kit, a new short film featuring two choirs—one from Wales and one from Patagonia—will be released. The choirs perform “Yma o Hyd” (“We’re Still Here”), a traditional Welsh folk song that symbolizes resilience and identity. The film aims to highlight the emotional and cultural connection between the two communities, reflecting themes from United’s “REUNITED” documentary, which is featured in Season 3 of “Welcome to Wrexham.” This documentary follows individuals of Welsh heritage from Patagonia as they make their first journey to Wrexham.

“This new third kit is a meaningful tribute to our shared history with the Welsh community in Patagonia,” said Wrexham AFC CEO Michael Williamson.

“It honours a 160-year connection rooted in resilience and pride—values that continue to shape Wrexham AFC.”

The shirt incorporates several elements referencing this heritage:

  • A blue and white design inspired by the Patagonian flag

  • Dragon outlines within the light blue stripes

  • A Welsh dragon on the back of the neck

  • The phrase “Don’t forget where you came from” printed internally around the hem — a nod to the opening titles of Welcome to Wrexham and a message to the Patagonian Welsh community.

Other details include:

  • A white crew neck collar and red-trimmed sleeves

  • Heat-transferred Macron Hero and Wrexham AFC crests

  • United logo across the chest, with HP and Meta Quest as sleeve and back sponsors

The full kit includes white shorts with light blue and red accents, and socks featuring light blue and white horizontal bands with a central red stripe.

“Our design approach combines tradition, innovation, and sustainability.”

Crafted from Macron’s Eco Softlock fabric with Eco Micromesh and Eco Mesh inserts, the kit balances performance with environmental responsibility. The shirt includes the “Designed in Bologna” mark, highlighting its Italian craftsmanship.

“The visual connection between the two choirs and the symbolism of the Y Wladfa flag highlight the deep bond between Wales and Patagonia.”
