The Leela Launches Forest Sanctuary Resort in Coorg
Brand Expands into Nature and Wellness-Focused Hospitality

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has announced the acquisition of a resort in Coorg, marking its entry into nature-led and wellness-focused hospitality in the region. The 71-villa property, spread across 76 acres near Madikeri and surrounded by coffee and spice plantations, will be launched as The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary later this year.

Anuraag Bhatnagar, Chief Executive Officer, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, said the addition of Coorg aligns with the brand’s focus on destinations with cultural and ecological value. He noted that the project also supports the company’s expansion in South India and its broader portfolio strategy across different landscapes in the country.
Design, Wellness and Expansion Plans

The resort has been developed in alignment with its natural surroundings, combining contemporary design with local materials and craftsmanship. It holds IGBC Platinum certification and includes scope for future expansion. The first phase will add 19 villas, taking the total inventory to 90 keys.
The property features four dining venues offering a mix of global and regional cuisines, along with coffee experiences linked to Coorg’s plantation heritage. A 27,000 sq. ft. wellness centre will offer Ayurveda-based treatments alongside modern wellness practices under the Aujasya by The Leela programme.

The resort also includes a central 7-acre lake, a private helipad, and a four-bedroom presidential villa with a private pool and dedicated wellness facilities.
With this addition, The Leela’s portfolio now includes 15 properties with over 4,160 keys across 13 cities globally. The company has nine more hotels in development and plans to expand to 24 properties over the next three years, with upcoming locations including Agra, Ayodhya, Bandhavgarh, Mumbai, Ranthambore, Sikkim, Srinagar and Jaisalmer.
