South African Tourism completes Delhi leg of India roadshow
South African Tourism has completed the Delhi segment of its Annual India Roadshow, following previous events in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. This initiative is part of the tourism board’s ongoing engagement with the Indian travel industry and emphasizes India’s role as a significant source market for South Africa.

The roadshow series began with a launch at OTM Mumbai, continued in Bengaluru, and concluded in Delhi. Led by Mitalee Karmarkar, Marketing and Communications Manager (MEISEA), the programme focused on strengthening collaboration with trade partners, sharing market insights, and identifying business opportunities across leisure, corporate, and MICE travel segments.

The Delhi roadshow featured more than 40 exhibitors showcasing South African tourism products and services. The event drew more than 255 Indian travel trade agents, promoting networking and outbound travel planning to South Africa.

Speaking at the event, Karmarkar noted that Indian travellers are increasingly interested in family travel, experiential holidays, and premium travel. She noted evolving travel-planning patterns, including increased use of digital and AI-enabled tools, longer planning cycles, and growing interest in destinations beyond traditional circuits. These trends, she said, create opportunities to introduce lesser-known regions and experiences within South Africa.
Karmarkar also noted that Delhi remains an important source market within India, with travellers from the city demonstrating interest in culture, wildlife, and leisure-focused itineraries. Through continued engagement with the local travel trade, South African Tourism aims to maintain visibility and relevance in the market.
The roadshow is part of South African Tourism’s objective to rebuild Indian visitor numbers in the coming years and to support growth through partnerships with Indian trade stakeholders. The country is also preparing to host the 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup, which is expected to increase international travel interest.
South African Tourism continues to focus on trade engagement, targeted consumer outreach, and destination marketing to strengthen its presence in India and encourage travel to South Africa across different traveller segments.
