Sheraton Nouakchott Marks Marriott Entry into Mauritania
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, has opened Sheraton Nouakchott, marking the company’s entry into Mauritania.
Located in Nouakchott, the hotel is close to key sites, including the Marché Capitale, the National Museum of Mauritania, the city’s beaches and fishing port, as well as routes leading to the desert.
The property features 200 guest rooms and suites, including two Presidential Suites. Interiors incorporate local design elements inspired by Mauritanian crafts and architecture, alongside contemporary features and standard brand amenities.
Dining options at the hotel include an all-day restaurant serving a mix of local and international dishes, an Italian restaurant, a lobby bar and a pool bar. The design of the dining spaces draws on regional references, including natural landscapes and historic trade routes.

Facilities include an outdoor pool, a fitness centre with separate areas for men and women, a spa with treatment rooms, and a tennis court. The hotel also offers more than 2,600 square metres of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and multiple meeting rooms.
The opening represents Marriott International’s entry into a new market, expanding its presence in West Africa. The property is positioned to serve both business and leisure travellers, as well as local events and gatherings.
