Minor Hotels Breaks Ground on First Avani Property in Singapore, Opening Planned for 2027
Minor Hotels has marked a significant step in its regional expansion with the groundbreaking of its first Avani property in Singapore. The ceremony, held at 24 Peck Seah Street in the Tanjong Pagar district, signals the beginning of construction for a 14-storey lifestyle hotel set to open in Q2 2027.
The project is a joint development between Minor Hotels, Singapore-based Kajima Development, and Abu Dhabi-based Al Wathba Investment. The collaboration reflects sustained investor interest in Singapore’s tourism and hospitality market.
More than 50 attendees were present at the ceremony, which included key project leaders and representatives. Among them were Mr. William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International; Mr. Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International; H.E. Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Al Wathba Investment; Mr. Shuichi Oishi, CEO of Kajima Development; Mr. Winston Zhu Wenting, Managing Director of Kim Hua Construction Pte. Ltd.; and Ms. Angelene Chan, Chairman of DP Architects.
Guests of Honour included H.E. Hiroshi Ishikawa, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, and H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore.

The event began with remarks from Mr. Heinecke, followed by a project overview presented by the development team. The ceremony concluded with a symbolic turning of the soil to mark the beginning of the hotel’s construction.

Project Overview
Avani Singapore, located in the heritage-rich Tanjong Pagar district, will feature 200 guest rooms. The property’s design is expected to balance local architectural influences with modern hospitality elements. Amenities will include a pool deck, fitness center (AvaniFit), dining venues, and a pedestrian link connecting Peck Seah Street and Tras Street.
The site is located within walking distance of Tanjong Pagar and Maxwell MRT stations, offering convenient access to Marina Bay, the Downtown Core, and other key areas of the city.
