Madhya Pradesh Tourism Records Key Milestones in 2025

Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board recorded measurable progress in 2025, marked by policy reforms, infrastructure development, connectivity initiatives, and steady investment growth. These developments were aligned with the national vision for cultural promotion and tourism-led economic development, under the guidance of the state leadership.

Policy and Governance

In 2025, Madhya Pradesh introduced the Tourism Policy 2025 to encourage investment and streamline procedures. A Film Tourism Policy 2025 to improve transparency, permissions, and incentives for film production linked to local culture and heritage.

Air and Helicopter Connectivity

To improve access to key destinations, the state launched:

  • PM SHRI Tourism Air Service, connecting eight cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Khajuraho and Ujjain, through a PPP model.

  • PM SHRI Tourism Helicopter Service, operational across three sectors covering religious, wildlife and leisure destinations, launched in November 2025.

Investment and Infrastructure

Tourism investment momentum continued through Regional Tourism Conclaves, the Global Investors Summit, and the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart.

  • Investment intent proposals worth over ₹64,000 crore were received during GIS 2025.

  • Allocation of land parcels, heritage properties, and wayside amenity centres supported hospitality expansion and employment generation.

  • Infrastructure projects progressed across convention centres, religious sites, craft villages, and tourism facilities.

Cultural, Religious and Heritage Tourism

  • Continued development of Advait Lok, Omkareshwar, with Phase II approvals.

  • Expansion of cultural and religious tourism circuits such as Shri Ramchandra Van Gaman Path and Shri Krishna Pathey.

  • Inclusion of 15 additional sites from Madhya Pradesh in UNESCO’s Tentative List.

  • Recognition of tribal art forms and cultural practices at the national level.

Rural, Inclusive and Responsible Tourism

  • More than 400 homestays became operational, strengthening rural livelihoods.

  • Women-focused initiatives covered training, self-defence, hospitality skills, and women-managed tourism facilities.

  • Clean Destination and Responsible Souvenir projects supported sustainability, waste management, and artisan livelihoods.

Events, Marketing and Film Tourism

The state participated in domestic and international tourism exhibitions and roadshows across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Film tourism activity remained steady, supported by policy implementation, global collaborations, and major film projects shot across the state.

Adventure, Water and Nature Tourism

Adventure and eco-tourism initiatives expanded through eco-retreats, trekking trails, cycling routes, water tourism projects, and safety training programmes, with parallel efforts in wildlife and bird tourism.

Museums and Cultural Infrastructure

Construction and planning progressed for a new network of museums across cities such as Bhopal, Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Panna and Maheshwar, alongside multiple cultural and religious ‘Lok’ projects at various stages of development.

Recognition and Outlook

In 2025, Madhya Pradesh Tourism received multiple national and industry awards across heritage, adventure, MICE and responsible tourism categories. With plans to expand hotel capacity, room count, roadside amenities, and tourism villages, the state continues to work toward increasing tourism’s contribution to its economy in the coming years.
