Delta and JA Launch Discovery Center in Clayton County

Clayton County Discovery Center Focuses on Student Careers

Delta Air Lines, Junior Achievement of Georgia, and Clayton County Public Schools have opened the JA Delta Discovery Center of Clayton County. The facility was introduced earlier this month and is expected to engage between 12,000 and 14,000 students each year.

The centre expands access to career awareness and workforce readiness programmes for students in the region. It also introduces the Delta Dream Accelerator, an interactive learning experience designed to help middle and high school students understand their interests, strengths, and potential career paths. This is the first Dream Accelerator in Georgia, with plans for additional centres in other parts of the United States.

Located at the Arena at Southlake in Morrow, Georgia, the Discovery Center forms part of a wider 15-acre development. The site also includes an 8,000-seat arena used for graduations, events, and community activities, along with a planned College and Career Academy.

John Hancock, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Georgia, said the initiative reflects a joint effort to support students with practical skills and exposure to future opportunities.

Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr., Interim Superintendent and CEO of Clayton County Public Schools, noted that partnerships such as this contribute to building pathways that connect education with employment and skills development.

The centre builds on Junior Achievement of Georgia’s existing network. Since launching its first Discovery Center in 2013, the organisation has expanded its reach across the state, delivering programmes such as JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, which focus on business operations and personal finance. The Clayton County facility is the seventh Discovery Center in Georgia.

Tad Hutcheson, Senior Vice President of The Delta Air Lines Foundation, said the initiative aligns with efforts to support education in financial literacy, business awareness, and career readiness.

Delta currently works with 32 Junior Achievement chapters globally. The Discovery Center is part of a broader commitment by Delta and its foundation to support community initiatives in Clayton County.
