Centara Reserve Samui Supports Sustainability and Community Initiatives in Koh Samui
Centara Reserve Samui has renewed its dedication to sustainability and supporting the local community by organizing a silent auction and donation drive for a nearby school that serves children with special needs on Koh Samui.
The initiative supported the Samui Special Needs Foundation, a non-profit that assists children with disabilities and their families. The foundation offers educational, developmental, and social support to children with autism and learning difficulties, aiming to foster inclusion within the local community.
This year’s silent auction showcased handcrafted artworks by students from the Special Needs School. Each piece highlighted the children’s unique personality and creativity, allowing guests to interact directly with the local community. All proceeds were donated to the school to fund learning resources and developmental programs. The event raised THB 18,000 for the foundation.
In addition to the auction, Centara Reserve Samui expanded its sustainability efforts by repurposing materials from its 2024 Christmas tree, which was constructed entirely from reclaimed wood. The wood was transformed into tables and chairs, which were donated to the same Special Needs School to address a shortage of classroom furniture. Teachers at the school noted that the donated items would support students’ daily learning activities.

Commenting on the initiative, Neil Li, Corporate Director of Operations – Centara Reserve & The Centara Collection and General Manager of Centara Reserve Samui, said the project reflects the resort’s approach to sustainability as an ongoing responsibility integrated into daily operations, with an emphasis on environmental care and social contribution.
Centara Reserve Samui maintains its commitment to sustainability through efforts like responsible material reuse and direct community engagement. These initiatives blend environmental consciousness with local involvement to promote sustainable community growth.
