The Gonville Hotel Joins Radisson Individuals in Cambridge
Cambridge Hotel Expands Radisson Individuals Presence in the UK
Radisson Hotel Group has added The Gonville Hotel in Cambridge to its Radisson Individuals portfolio. The 92-room property, located in the city centre, becomes part of the growing collection while continuing to operate with its own identity and character.
Originally built in 1830 by Gonville & Caius College as a residence for senior fellows, the property has evolved over the years into a hotel that combines its historic roots with modern hospitality. Today, The Gonville Hotel offers 92 guest rooms, including classic and superior categories, as well as a selection of individually designed feature rooms.
Eight of these feature rooms are located within the historic Gresham House. Each room draws inspiration from the nearby Cambridge University Botanic Garden and includes access to a private garden space.

Commenting on the addition, Joep Peeters, Chief Operating Officer, Franchise EMEA, at Radisson Hotel Group, said the property reflects the Radisson Individuals concept of offering stays that celebrate local character, heritage, and hospitality, while strengthening the group’s presence across key destinations.
Dining at the hotel is centred around two venues. Gonville Kitchen, the hotel’s AA Two Rosette restaurant, serves a menu that combines British and Mediterranean influences using locally sourced ingredients. Guests can choose from lunch menus, afternoon tea and à la carte dining options.
The Long Bar provides a more informal setting, serving cocktails, local beers and wines alongside casual dining. Live jazz performances take place on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The hotel’s wellness facilities are located within Gresham House Wellness, where guests can access a range of ESPA treatments, including massages, facials and body therapies. Hotel residents receive a discount on selected treatments during their stay.
For meetings and events, the property offers five event spaces that can accommodate up to 100 guests. The outdoor Gonville Garden is also used for weddings and private celebrations.
The hotel has received Green Tourism Gold accreditation in recognition of its sustainability initiatives and environmentally responsible practices.
Guests can also take part in a range of local experiences, including complimentary chauffeur-driven Bentley tours of Cambridge and bicycle hire for exploring the city.
Overlooking Parker’s Piece, The Gonville Hotel is within walking distance of Cambridge’s museums, university colleges and cultural attractions. The River Cam and The Backs are also nearby, while road and rail connections provide convenient access from London.

David Chaplin, Chairman of The Gonville Hotel, said joining Radisson Individuals would allow the hotel to retain its family-run character while benefiting from Radisson Hotel Group’s international network and guest reach.
The addition further strengthens Radisson Individuals’ footprint in the United Kingdom, offering travellers another accommodation option in one of the country’s most visited university cities.
