Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere Opens Reservations Ahead of July 2026 Launch

Fairmont Cheshire Marks Brand Expansion in Northwest England
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has opened reservations for Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, ahead of its scheduled opening on 10 July 2026. The property will become the brand’s fourth hotel in the United Kingdom, joining The Savoy, A Fairmont Hotel, Fairmont Windsor Park and Fairmont St Andrews.

Located within 157 acres of Cheshire countryside overlooking The Mere Lake, the hotel enters a new phase following an extensive redevelopment. The property will feature 116 guestrooms, including 23 suites, alongside a range of dining, wellness and leisure facilities.

Dining options will include Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, afternoon tea and champagne service at The Orangery, British and Indian cuisine at The Club Lounge, and a Spa Bar focused on wellness-led refreshments. Guests will also have access to a spa and an 18-hole championship golf course.

The Mere has a long history, with references dating back to the Domesday Book of 1086. Over the centuries, it has served various purposes before evolving into the hotel and leisure destination it is today. The latest transformation aims to retain the estate’s heritage while introducing Fairmont’s hospitality offering to the region.

Claudia Kozma Kaplan, Chief Brand Officer of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said the property has been designed as a countryside retreat where guests can enjoy dining, wellness and leisure experiences within a rural setting.
The redevelopment follows Select Group’s £35 million acquisition of the estate and a further £90 million investment in its refurbishment and repositioning.

For meetings, events and celebrations, the hotel will offer a 1,000-square-metre Grand Ballroom capable of accommodating up to 1,000 guests, along with four boardrooms overlooking the surrounding landscape. The venue is also expected to cater for weddings, private functions and multi-day events.

Israr LiaqatIsrar Liaqat, Group Chief Executive Officer of Select Group, said the project reflects the company’s long-term vision for the property and its ambition to strengthen the hospitality offering in Northwest England.

Gary Johnson, General Manager of Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, added that the property’s location, centred on the lake and golf course, would provide a setting for dining, well-being, leisure, and social gatherings when the hotel opens next year.

Further details about the hotel are expected to be released in the coming weeks as preparations continue for the July 2026 opening.
