British Airways Introduces New Lounge Design Concept in Miami and Dubai
British Airways has launched its new lounge design concept with the opening of two lounges in Miami and Dubai. Developed in collaboration with global architecture and design firm Gensler, the concept will guide future lounge developments across the airline’s network.

Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, said: “We’re pleased to introduce our new design concept with lounges in Miami and Dubai. These spaces have been created with our customers in mind and represent the next step in our lounge transformation plan. Whether relaxing, dining, working, or enjoying a drink at the bar, there is something for every type of traveller. We’re proud to bring our brand to life in these spaces by combining British originality with each destination’s character.”

The design establishes a consistent architectural identity across British Airways lounges worldwide. Drawing on the airline’s heritage and local influences, the spaces are intended to be welcoming and functional, offering moments of calm and connection. Unique ‘look-up’ design features add visual interest to each lounge, such as a mirrored ceiling in Miami that reveals the phrase “London Calling.”
Miami Lounge

This marks British Airways’ return to operating its own lounge in Miami after several decades. Spanning 13,000 sqft in Terminal E, the space reflects British design blended with Art Deco elements inspired by the city’s architecture. Large windows provide views across the airfield, and local contractors and materials were used in the construction.

The lounge features five distinct zones, including a full-service bar, main dining area, focus pods, and a lowered central lounge for added privacy. Two shower suites and colourful washrooms inspired by traditional Miami deck chairs offer travellers a place to refresh.

The dining experience combines locally sourced ingredients with British influences, while First customers have access to an à la carte menu in the Concorde Dining Room.
Dubai Lounge

Located in Terminal 1 at Dubai International Airport and covering 5,800 sqft, the Dubai lounge blends contemporary British design with architectural elements inspired by the UAE, including sweeping arches, patterned metal panels, and mirrored walls. A full-service bar anchors the space.
Locally sourced geometric tiles and British heritage fabrics are used throughout, while lighting and mirrors create an open atmosphere. The dining area offers Arabic and British dishes, along with cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, teas from Birchall, and coffee from UAE-based Coffee Planet.
First customers have access to a dedicated Concorde Dining Room, offering an à la carte menu with Middle Eastern and British dishes in a variety of seating areas.
Ashley Dowell, Design Director and Senior Associate at Gensler, said: “We are honoured to have partnered with British Airways to shape its global lounge concept. Rooted in hospitality and inspired by both the airline’s heritage and each destination, the lounges aim to offer intuitive and welcoming spaces for travellers.”
