Dieter Vranckx Assumes Chairmanship of SWISS Board; Ashwin Bhat Rejoins as Board Member

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced that Dieter Vranckx has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Ashwin Bhat has been newly elected to the Board.

Vranckx succeeds Reto Francioni, who chose not to stand for re-election. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of SWISS from 2021 to 2024 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2024. Currently, he is a member of the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group, where he serves as Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing the Group’s commercial activities.

Ashwin Bhat, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Cargo, returns to the SWISS Board, having previously served as a board member from 2023 to 2024. He has led Lufthansa Cargo since April 2023 and earlier held the position of Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to that, he headed SWISS WorldCargo in Zurich from 2015 and began his career with Swisscargo AG in 1999, holding various leadership roles over the years.

Both Vranckx and Bhat bring extensive international aviation experience and deep familiarity with SWISS, having held multiple leadership roles within the organisation.

Their appointments are expected to further strengthen the Board’s strategic oversight and support the airline’s continued operational and commercial development.
