Atwell Expands Presence in Greater China with New Openings

IHG’s Lifestyle Brand Adds Second Hotel in Hefei

Atwell, the lifestyle brand from IHG Hotels & Resorts, is continuing its expansion in Greater China with the opening of Atwell Hefei City Centre. The launch follows the brand’s first property in the region, Atwell Suites Shanghai Wuning, marking its growing presence across key urban markets.

The expansion reflects changing travel preferences, with growing interest in personalized stays and experiences rooted in local culture. Atwell’s “new territorial home” concept focuses on creating spaces that combine comfort, design and a sense of place.

Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer, IHG Greater China, said the brand is aligned with demand for experience-led travel and is designed to adapt to different city environments while maintaining a consistent identity.

Design, Facilities and Local Integration

Atwell Hefei City Centre is located in a central commercial district, positioned between the city’s historic areas and newer developments. The hotel features 168 guest rooms designed with modern interiors and elements inspired by local culture.

Public spaces include social and dining areas intended to encourage interaction, along with facilities such as fitness areas, laundry services and technology-enabled features to support convenience during stays.

The property also includes a lifestyle retail space, Dialecte, offering curated products, and a dining venue, B.N.B Bistro, designed with a semi-open layout that connects with the surrounding neighbourhood.

The brand plans further expansion across Greater China, with upcoming developments in cities including Suzhou, Nanjing and Guangzhou, as it continues to build its presence in the region.
