Air France Rolls Out Free High-Speed Wi-Fi Across Its Fleet
Announced in autumn 2024, Air France’s in-flight Wi-Fi service is now operational. The airline has equipped its fifth aircraft with high-speed connectivity, enabling passengers to access a stable, fast, and secure internet connection at no additional cost. Air France is the first major European carrier to introduce this service on board. The company plans to extend availability to 30% of its fleet by the end of the year and across the entire fleet by the end of 2026.
The service is free in all travel cabins and can be accessed by logging into a Flying Blue account. Two Embraer 190 and two Airbus A220 aircraft were recently fitted with Wi-Fi, and this week an Airbus A350 will be equipped, bringing the service to the long-haul network for the first time. The rollout also includes regional aircraft, marking a significant expansion of connectivity options for passengers.
On board equipped aircraft, customers can stay connected with family and friends, follow live news, stream entertainment, or play multiplayer games. The connection is compatible with smartphones, tablets, and laptops, and supports multiple devices simultaneously.
Passengers can log in to their Flying Blue account or create one for free while on board. During the transition phase, aircraft that do not yet have high-speed Wi-Fi will still offer internet access. Flying Blue members can use a free messaging pass, while others will have the option to pay for additional internet access.
To deliver the service, Air France has partnered with Starlink, which provides low-latency internet through its satellite network in low-Earth orbit.
