Emirates Engine Maintenance Expansion Gains GE Aerospace Support
Emirates Engine Partnership Focuses on Repair Capability Development
Emirates has signed an agreement with GE Aerospace for technical and training consultancy to strengthen repair capabilities for GE90 and GP7200 engines.
The agreement was signed at the airlines Group Headquarters by Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, and Mohamed Ali, President and CEO of Commercial Engines and Services at GE Aerospace.
The collaboration will support the expansion of the EEMC, part of the airline’s US$300 million investment to increase infrastructure and capabilities for maintaining, repairing and overhauling aircraft engines across its fleet.
As part of the agreement, GE Aerospace will provide technical support for the development of a piece-part component repair line and will also work with the airline on knowledge transfer and training programmes focused on repair processes and operational practices.
Adel Al Redha said the partnership represents an important step in strengthening the airlines’ engine repair capabilities through infrastructure investment and workforce development.
He added that the collaboration would help provide specialized training for repair work related to GE90 and GP7200 engines, which power the airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft and are part of its Airbus A380 fleet.
Mohamed Ali said GE Aerospace would continue supporting Emirates in expanding its repair capabilities and strengthening aviation-related expertise in the UAE.
Emirates Engineering offers engineering, line maintenance, and base maintenance for over 270 aircraft, including Boeing 777, Airbus A380, and Airbus A350 models. The Engine Maintenance Centre, founded in 2014, handles the repair and servicing of engines across the fleet.
