Thailand Completes Jimmy Pelletier World Tour Stage 5 Across 30 Provinces

Cross-country handcycle journey highlights safety, accessibility and coordinated tourism efforts

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with AFS Thailand, has marked the completion of Stage 5 of the Jimmy Pelletier World Tour, following a 47-day journey across Thailand.

The stage forms part of a 13-leg global project led by Canadian Paralympian Jimmy Pelletier, aimed at raising awareness and funds for accessibility-focused initiatives. Thailand was the only Asian destination included in the route.

Route across Thailand reflects nationwide coordination

The journey took place from 14 February to 1 April 2026, beginning in Bangkok and covering more than 30 provinces across the country’s central, northern and southern regions.

The route included Suphan Buri, Chai Nat, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Lampang, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae and Uttaradit. It then continued through Phetchabun, Lop Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Pattaya and Chon Buri, before extending to Phuket, Phang-nga, Ranong, Chumphon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi and Nakhon Pathom. The stage concluded in Nonthaburi, with departure scheduled for 2 April 2026 as the tour continues to Morocco.

Focus on safety standards and inclusive travel

According to TAT, the initiative aligns with its Trusted Thailand approach, which focuses on safety standards, travel facilitation and coordination across sectors.

Ms Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, said the successful completion of the Thailand stage reflects the country’s ability to support long-distance travel through coordinated efforts and established infrastructure. She added that collaboration across local offices, agencies and communities helped ensure a smooth journey throughout the route.

TAT worked alongside regional partners to manage logistics, facilitate movement between destinations and maintain consistent support during the 47-day journey.

Community participation and on-ground support

The journey was supported by local communities across the provinces, which contributed to route coordination and on-the-ground assistance. This collaboration helped maintain continuity throughout the cross-country ride.

The experience also marked Jimmy Pelletier’s first visit to Thailand, with updates, images and videos from the route shared via the project’s official channels.

Project background and purpose

The Jimmy Pelletier Cycling Ride — La Randonnée Jimmy Pelletier — is a global cycling initiative supporting Adaptavie, a Quebec-based non-profit organisation that works with individuals with physical, intellectual and autism-related disabilities.

The Thailand stage represents one segment of the wider project, which continues across multiple international destinations as part of a structured global route.
