Outrigger to Open New Beachfront Retreat on Phi Phi Island in 2026
OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group is set to open OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort, a beachfront retreat where Southern Thailand’s natural surroundings and culture come together. Scheduled to open in early 2026, the resort represents a new phase for the group’s presence in one of Thailand’s most well-known island destinations.
Located on the northern tip of Phi Phi Island, the resort overlooks a secluded white-sand beach and the Andaman Sea, offering guests a setting that blends local character with OUTRIGGER’s hospitality and sustainability approach.
“Phi Phi Island reflects the essence of a tropical destination,” said Jeff Wagoner, President and CEO of OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group.
“Its landscape and culture make it an ideal location for OUTRIGGER’s barefoot-luxury style. The opening of OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort is a meaningful step in our journey to strengthen our beach resort portfolio.”
Accessible only by boat, the resort is designed as a calm space for guests to reconnect with nature and local traditions. On arrival, guests are welcomed with a RubKwan ceremony and receive a handcrafted bead bracelet, a gesture of well-being and good fortune that runs through the resort experience.
With 63 suites and villas, the property focuses on simple, open spaces inspired by the Thai concept of Nit Thra (“the soul of rest”), emphasizing balance and calm. Interiors feature handcrafted furnishings, natural textures, and woven details that reflect the heritage of the Urak Lawoi sea community. Accommodation options range from Beachfront Pool Suites with direct beach access, to Hilltop Pool Villas with private infinity pools and elevated views, to Family Garden Suites surrounded by tropical greenery.
Guests can explore Phi Phi through activities that highlight local culture and environment, including Thai cooking classes, bead-making inspired by island trade history, and long-tail boat picnics through mangrove channels.
Mala Kitchen features Southern Thai cuisine, following the culinary philosophy of Samrub Thai — focusing on balance in flavor and presentation. The Edgewater Bar & Grill incorporates local design elements such as woven bamboo panels and fishing nets, creating a relaxed, open-air space for seafood, curries, and drinks overlooking the sea.
Zeavola Spa offers wellness rituals inspired by the Southern Thai phrase Ayu Man Kwan Yeun (“A Blessing for Life”), incorporating colors and treatments that symbolize healing and harmony.
For younger guests, the resort includes a kids’ retreat and teen zone. At the same time, those seeking adventure can join eco-conscious island excursions, PADI-certified dive trips, and non-motorized water sports within the Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park.
OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort will join the group’s existing destinations in Koh Samui, Khao Lak, and Phuket, expanding its beachfront hospitality portfolio across Thailand and the Asia Pacific region.
