Turkish Airlines Launches Timișoara Flights, Expands Romania Network
New route increases connectivity between Timișoara and Istanbul
Turkish Airlines has introduced flights to Timișoara, marking a fourth destination in Romania after Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Constanța. The new route operates five times weekly, raising the airline’s total weekly flights in Romania to 47.
An inauguration ceremony was held at Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport, attended by representatives from the airline and the airport. The event marked the launch of the new route and its role in enhancing regional air connectivity.
Bilal Ekşi, CEO of Turkish Airlines, said Romania remains an important market for the airline in Eastern Europe. He noted that the addition of Timișoara expands the airline’s network in the country and provides travellers with more options, as well as access to its global network via Istanbul.
Timișoara strengthens its position as a tourism and business hub

Situated in western Romania along the Bega River, Timișoara is renowned for its historic architecture and multicultural heritage. Often called “Little Vienna,” the city boasts notable public squares such as Union Square (Piața Unirii) and Victory Square (Piața Victoriei).
