RGIA Secures ACI Accessibility Level 1 Accreditation, Advances Inclusive Travel Vision
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), part of a consortium led by GMR Aero, has announced that Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been awarded Level 1 Accessibility Accreditation by Airports Council International (ACI) World. This recognition highlights RGIA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing accessibility and fostering a more inclusive travel environment for all passengers, including those with disabilities and reduced mobility.
The ACI Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation Program is a global framework aimed at helping airports evaluate and improve accessibility standards. Level 1 focuses on identifying existing gaps, assessing current infrastructure and services, and initiating steps toward alignment with international best practices.
RGIA was evaluated across several criteria, including physical infrastructure like ramps, signage, and accessible restrooms; passenger services such as assistance programs and communication tools; staff training; and the airport’s overall approach to fostering inclusive travel.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GHIAL, said, “Receiving the ACI Accessibility Accreditation – Level 1 is a meaningful step forward in our ongoing efforts to ensure a welcoming and supportive environment for all travellers. We remain committed to continuous improvements that prioritize accessibility, dignity, and independence for every passenger.”
The accreditation establishes a foundation for RGIA to enhance accessibility compliance, aligning its operations with advancing global standards and inclusive practices.
