Qatar Airways and China Southern Expand Codeshare and Flight Frequencies Between China and Doha

Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines have announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership and an increase in flight frequencies between Doha and Beijing, ahead of China’s Golden Week holiday. This builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year, enhancing connectivity for travellers between China and global destinations via Doha.

Starting 16 October 2025, Qatar Airways will place its code on China Southern’s three weekly direct flights between Beijing Daxing and Doha. China Southern will also expand its “CZ” code on Qatar Airways-operated flights beyond Doha to 15 destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including Amman, Athens, Barcelona, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Madrid, and Munich.

Thierry Antinori, Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, said: “This expansion ensures that every Qatar Airways route to China is now accessible to China Southern Airlines’ passengers. Timed with Golden Week, it provides Chinese travellers with broader access through Doha to multiple destinations across our global network via Hamad International Airport.”

Qatar Airways previously placed its code on China Southern flights between Guangzhou and Doha in April 2024. Building on the existing codeshare from Guangzhou and Beijing Daxing, China Southern will extend its code to flights between Doha and Chengdu Tianfu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, pending government approvals.

Han Wensheng, China Southern Airlines President and CEO, said: “Beijing Daxing is a key hub for our international operations, and the new Doha services strengthen its role alongside our existing operations from Guangzhou. This partnership expands travel options for passengers connecting to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas through Doha.”

With these updates, Qatar Airways and its partners, China Southern and Xiamen Airlines, will now operate 64 weekly flights across eight gateways in Greater China, supported by aircraft equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity.

The airlines will continue to collaborate in areas such as cargo operations and loyalty programs to support sustainable partnerships and enhance travel options for passengers.
