Oceania Cruises Reveals First Look at Oceania Sonata, Debuting in 2027
Oceania Cruises has introduced Oceania Sonata, the first ship in its new Sonata Class, set to launch in 2027. The vessel marks the beginning of a four-ship series designed to reflect the line’s focus on culinary experiences and destination-driven cruising.
Oceania Sonata, the ninth ship in the fleet, is scheduled to begin sailing in August 2027. The ship has been developed to offer a mix of open, light-filled areas alongside quieter spaces intended for relaxation. Its design continues the brand’s approach to creating an atmosphere centred on comfort, dining, and thoughtful service.
The vessel will feature expanded accommodations, with 30% of all staterooms designated as suites. Two new suite categories will be introduced, along with updated Owner’s Suites. All accommodations will include a private veranda to maintain a connection to the surrounding ocean and destinations.
“We are pleased to introduce Oceania Sonata as we begin the next phase of our growth,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises.
“Each new ship allows us to refine the travel experience, and Oceania Sonata reflects our direction for the coming years, shaped by our focus on cuisine, service and meaningful travel experiences. Further details will be shared soon.”
Oceania Sonata will offer ten dining options, including established venues such as the Grand Dining Room, Jacques, Red Ginger, Polo Grill and Toscana. New dining concepts and at-sea experiences will be announced in the months ahead.
The ship is being built by Fincantieri, the Italian shipbuilder responsible for several of Oceania Cruises’ existing vessels, including Oceania Marina, Oceania Riviera, Oceania Vista and Oceania Allura. Oceania Sonata will measure approximately 86,000 gross registered tons, accommodate 1,390 guests and be supported by 855 officers and crew.
