Alaska Airlines Connects Travellers to Iceland for the 2026 Solar Eclipse

Alaska Airlines is inviting travellers to experience the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026 with its seasonal non-stop service between Seattle and Reykjavík, Iceland.

Iceland is expected to be one of the key locations to witness the eclipse, particularly in the western part of the country, where the moon will fully cover the sun for up to two minutes during the late afternoon.

Direct Flights to Iceland

The airline’s seasonal daily service offers a convenient option for travellers heading to Iceland during the eclipse period.

Flights depart Seattle at 6:35 pm, arriving in Reykjavík at 9:00 am the following day, while return flights leave Reykjavík at 12:45 pm and arrive in Seattle at 1:40 pm the same day.

Extend Your European Journey

Through its partnership with Icelandair and the oneworld alliance, Alaska Airlines allows travellers to continue their journey to destinations across Europe using a single booking.

The expanded codeshare agreement with Icelandair provides access to more than 35 daily departures from Reykjavík, making it easier for passengers to combine Iceland with other European destinations.

Rewards and Travel Benefits

Members of Atmos Rewards can earn and redeem points on flights to Iceland, hotel stays and Alaska Vacations packages.

Passengers travelling between Seattle and Reykjavík can also enjoy onboard Wi-Fi, premium bedding and lounge access at Keflavík International Airport for eligible First Class passengers and qualifying Atmos Rewards members.

Explore Iceland Beyond the Eclipse

Beyond the eclipse, Iceland offers visitors a range of natural attractions, including waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, geothermal lagoons and hiking trails.

Alaska Airlines’ seasonal Reykjavík service will operate until 8 September 2026, with flights expected to return for the 2027 travel season.
